Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-08-17
BISTO is an open geospatial platform for Bangladesh environmental monitoring. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you visit or use the site.
1. Information we collect
- Public usage data: standard server logs including IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps.
- Cookies and local storage: we do not set our own tracking cookies and keep only necessary/preference data. Third-party services such as Google AdSense and Cloudflare may set cookies — see the Third-party services section below for details and opt-out options.
2. How we use information
- Operate and improve the platform.
3. Third-party services and advertising
- Cloudflare: used for CDN and security. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and request metadata and may set cookies (e.g.
__cf_bm) for security and rate limiting.
- Google AdSense: we display ads through Google AdSense. AdSense uses cookies and device identifiers to serve and personalise ads, measure ad performance, and prevent fraud. This may include interest-based advertising. You can manage or opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ad Settings and via aboutads.info. In the EEA/UK, non-personalised ads are served unless you consent to personalisation.
- External basemaps/tiles: we fetch basemap tiles from third-party providers (e.g. OpenStreetMap, CARTO, Esri, Stadia); their own privacy policies apply to those requests, which are made directly from your browser.
4. Cookie preferences
Where required by law, we ask for your consent before enabling advertising cookies and provide a way to change your preferences. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings and opt out of personalised ads via the links above. Blocking ads or cookies will not prevent the site or the interactive maps from working.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell personal data. Aggregated or anonymized usage data may be used for research or operational diagnostics.
6. Data retention
Server logs are retained for security and operational diagnostics. You may request removal or correction of personal data by contacting the platform administrator.
